5th Annual Backpack Drive is Underway!
Last summer High Water Women raised more than $100,000, including in-kind donations. Over 400 donors and volunteers from the finance industry were responsible for providing and assembling a total of 4,984 backpacks loaded with school supplies, books and clothing. The backpacks were given to children who are homeless, in foster care, or impoverished.
We need your help to reach as at least as many kids this year! Without your financial and/or in-kind support, this cannot be achieved.
Here are three ways you can help.
1. DONATE BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES. A fully loaded backpack should cost retail approximately $50. Please refer to 'Supply Needs' table below for more information, which may also be found as a PDF at this link, Backapck_Factsheet_2009.pdf. Drop off locations will be announced shortly, but if you would like a receipt for you’re the value of your purchases, original receipts must be mailed to:

2. DONATE MONEY. High Water Women volunteers will purchase and assemble backpacks and school supplies with your generous contribution. Due to our ability to buy backpacks and supplies wholesale, $50 can purchase two backpacks. Checks are greatly preferred. Please send a check payable to the High Water Women Foundation to: Kathleen Kelley, President, High Water Women Foundation, c/o Kingdon Capital Management, 152 West 57th Street, 50th Floor, NY, NY 10019. Donations will be accepted through July 31st.
3. VOLUNTEER Mark your calendars! Volunteers are needed to assemble backpacks on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13. Our host this year is Latham & Watkins, located at 885 Third Avenue (the Lipstick Building corner East 53rd Street). On-Line registration will be available closer to the date.
