HWW 6th Annual Backpack Drive is Underway!

Please offer your support to HWWis Annual Backpack Drive for 2010 so that children who are homeless, in foster care or living in poverty can start the new school year with a backpack filled with supplies. Letis help motivate these children to be excited for the first day of school and be ready to learn.

WE NEED Volunteers now in the following areas:

• Fundraisers - Reach out to your network (work, friends, and family) as well as High Water Women's network of past donors and supporters; help recruit fundraisers and volunteers for other jobs.
• Volunteer Coordinators - Recruit volunteers from your own network and HWW's; assign tasks and slot all backpack assembly volunteers, at least 100, into scheduled assignments.
• Purchasing - purchase the supplies needed and as budgeted; work with on-site inventory and on-site logistics coordinators to insure that orders are delivered on time.
• Charity relationship mangers - work with HWW nonprofit partners to estimate their backpack needs, recruit volunteers from the charities and arrange for pickup and delivery of loaded backpacks.
• Inventory and Logistics Managers - coordinate all aspects of point of assembly; Team Captains for backpack assembly; Drop-off volunteers responsible for receiving donations of backpacks at their place of employment.

We are also accepting donations of backpacks filled with the requested school supplies. A fully-loaded backpack averages $50.00 retail. Please refer to our Backpack_Factsheet_2010.pdf. for required supplies. Donated backpacks filled with supplies must have tags indicating if the backpack is for a boy or girl and the age group. Details on where to deliver fully-loaded backpacks will follow. Please be sure to keep receipts.
