Board of Directors


High Water Women is managed by a Board of Directors which meets regularly to guide associate programs as well as to develop focus for the organizations growth. The Board of Directors also oversees the activities of the committees that manage the organization's affairs.

Renee Haugerud, Galtere Ltd

Renee Haugerud is the Founder, Chief Investment Officer and Managing Principal of Galtere Ltd. Established in 1999, Galtere manages a commodity based global macro hedge fund with assets under management in excess of $1 billion. Ms. Haugerud has over 27 years trading experience in global financial markets, including 15 years with Cargill in the U.S., Switzerland, and Australia. Ms. Hauguerd also served as Financial Trading Manager at Hunter Douglas N.A., in New York, and as Head of Proprietary Trading at Natwest Markets Asian headquarters in Hong Kong. Ms. Haugerud received her B.S. degree with Honors in Forest Resource Management from the University of Montana in 1980. She is a founding member of the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Project and an advocate for numerous global health initiatives.





Elizabeth R. Hilpman, Barlow Partners

Elizabeth Hilpman is a partner at Barlow Partners with joint responsibility for the selection and monitoring of investments. Prior to joining Barlow in 2001, she was an Investment Manager at Global Asset Management with responsibility for the U.S. component of GAM's Diversity Fund and other funds of funds from 1998 until 2000. Prior to this Liz spent time at Dubin & Swieca as Director of Alternative Manager Research and with the endowment community as an Investment Officer at Dartmouth College. For nine years she was at Commonfund serving in the final years as Vice President, Investments with co-responsibility for hedge fund investments. Ms. Hilpman graduated with a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire.

 



P. Georgia Bullitt, Morgan Lewis

P. Georgia Bullitt is a partner in the Securities Industry and Investment Management practices at Morgan Lewis and is based in the firm’s New York Office.  Ms. Bullitt’s practice focuses on broker-dealer and investment manager regulation, regulation of the securities markets and equity derivatives structuring and documentation.  Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, she served as Executive Director and global counsel to Morgan Stanley’s private wealth management division.  Ms. Bullitt is currently a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Investment Management Committee.  She received her B.A. degree in East Asian Studies from Yale College.  She is also a graduate of The University of Michigan Law School.

 



Kathleen Kelley, Kingdon Capital Management LLC

Kathleen Kelley is Global Macro Portfolio Manager at Kingdon Capital Management LLC. Prior to this, she served two years as a global macro strategist at Vantis Capital Management in New York. She joined Vantis from Tudor Investment Corporation where she ultimately managed a portfolio focusing on fixed income and commodities. She began her career at Tudor in 1990 providing economic research for Paul Jones, she then spent a number of years in their systematic trading group, developing trading systems. Prior to Tudor she spent three years at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as an economist in the international research area.

Kathleen is on the Board of the Bedford-Stuyvesant "I Have A Dream" Program, as well as Iris House, a center for women and their children with AIDS in Harlem.

She has a BA in math and economics from Smith College and a general course diploma from the London School of Economics.

 



Eileen Kotecki, Juniper Capital Group

Eileen Kotecki is Founder and Managing Director of Juniper Capital Group, a marketing firm focused on private equity and hedge funds.  Ms. Kotecki previously was National Finance Director for the Al Gore Presidential Campaign, where she designed, implemented and managed the campaign’s financial plan, raising over $1.2 billion in total.  Ms. Kotecki has also served as the National Finance Co-Chair for the John Edwards’ 2004 presidential campaign,  has worked as a political fundraiser in 18 states, and is currently a Senior Advisor for the Edwards 2008 Campaign. Her volunteer work has included board memberships with two Baltimore organizations: Synapse, which assists women from impoverished countries in gaining market access for their products, and Women Entrepreneurs, which helps women on welfare start their own companies.  Ms. Kotecki holds a B.A. from Rosemont College. 



Alexandra Poe, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP

Alexandra (Sandra) Poe is a partner in the Securities Department of WilmerHale. Sandra has 20 years of experience in investment management practice counseling hedge funds, mutual funds, investment advisers and broker-dealer advisory programs in matters involving fund formation, governance, registration and distribution, service, program and platform agreements, and the drafting and implementation of compliance policies and programs.

A graduate of New York University Law School and Cornell University, Sandra was most recently Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at U.S. Trust and Chief Legal Officer of the Excelsior family of funds. Before joining U.S. Trust, Sandra spent five years as General Counsel at Schroder Capital Management and served as President of the Schroder family of mutual funds. She also served as Chief Legal Officer for Managed Accounts and Alternative Investment Strategies at Prudential Financial and as Vice President and investment company counsel for Citibank Global Asset Management. She also spent seven years of her early practice years in private practice.

Sandra is a member of the New York bar and occasionally speaks at conferences on investment management law. She is proud to serve currently as a co-leader of the High Water Women microfinance initiatives; she also values her prior experience as a Director and Executive Director of Artists to End Hunger, Inc., producer of the International Art Show for the End of World Hunger exhibited in major museums and arts venues in twelve countries from 1987-1991.




Eleanor L. Thomas, Meteora Partners

Eleanor L. Thomas is a Managing Director of Meteora Partners, L.L.C., a specialized financial services firm. Prior to joining Meteora, she was the Director of Alternative Investment Strategies and Chief Executive Officer of the Alternatives business of Prudential Financial Derivatives LLC. Eleanor ran the global hedge fund-of-funds platform for this former unit of Prudential Securities.

She was responsible for product origination, negotiations, risk management and administration. During her tenure, Eleanor managed the regulatory reporting and audits of the Alternatives business for Prudential Securities as well. Prior to Prudential Securities, she was fund manager and controller for MC Baldwin Financial, a managed-futures investment manager. She had joined them after a stint as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co., primarily in the financial services sector. Eleanor holds her Masters of Business Administration in Accounting from Bernard Baruch College. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Long Island University and is a Certified Public Accountant.



Marina Winton, High Water Women Foundation

Marina Winton is a non-voting member of the Board, and brings 20 years of non-profit management experience to the organization, primarily with at-risk women and youth on both the local and national levels.  Prior to joining High Water Women as its Acting Executive Director, she was President and CEO of the national “I Have a Dream”® Foundation and oversaw the opening of 21 new sites or chapters representing $30 million in private funds and pledges raised locally.  Marina also improved the Foundation’s chapter services, increased private funding sources by 20% to 77% of the overall budget, and raised its national profile in numerous media outlets.  Prior to that, she was an Assistant National Executive Director with the YWCA of the USA, which oversaw 3,000 different YWCA locations across the country with programs devoted to empowering women and girls.  While at the YWCA, she oversaw its Development Department.  She also held senior executive positions with a national fundraising consulting firm and with United Way of New York City.  Marina graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Management, both from McGill University.
